Job Summary:
The Marine Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of marine operations within our organization. This position requires a strong understanding of maritime logistics and regulations, as well as excellent leadership and organizational skills. The Marine Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations, maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and optimizing performance to achieve operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee day-to-day marine operations, including vessel scheduling, crew management, and cargo handling, to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal disruption.
2. Develop and implement strategies to optimize operational performance, enhance productivity, and minimize costs.
3. Collaborate with various internal departments, such as procurement, engineering, and finance, to ensure effective coordination and communication across the organization.
4. Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable maritime laws, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety among all staff members.
6. Lead and supervise a team of marine operations personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
7. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including port authorities, vessel owners, suppliers, and customers, to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
8. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
9. Prepare and analyze operational reports, identifying trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field. Relevant certifications and advanced degrees are advantageous.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in marine operations, preferably in a managerial role.
3. Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
4. Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
5. Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
6. Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and analytically.
7. Proficient in using relevant software applications and systems for managing marine operations.
8. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
