Job Summary:
The Aviation Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of risk associated with aviation operations within our organization. This role entails identifying potential risks, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices. The Aviation Risk Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and legal, to develop and execute effective risk management strategies to minimize the impact of potential hazards and enhance the safety and security of aviation operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive aviation risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and hazards.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control measures to ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and international aviation safety standards.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish risk management objectives and policies that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
4. Identify emerging risks and trends in the aviation industry and provide recommendations to senior management to proactively address potential issues.
5. Conduct investigations and root cause analysis of aviation incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
6. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance risk awareness among aviation personnel, emphasizing safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of risk management activities, including incident reports, risk assessments, and risk treatment plans.
8. Stay updated with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in aviation risk management to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
9. Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurance providers, and external auditors to ensure compliance with aviation safety and risk management standards.
10. Provide guidance and support to aviation personnel regarding risk management policies and procedures, fostering a culture of safety and risk awareness.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Science, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation risk management or related roles within the aviation industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety management systems, and risk management principles.
4. Strong understanding of aviation operations, including flight operations, maintenance, ground handling, and emergency response.
5. Proven track record in developing and implementing effective risk management strategies in an aviation environment.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and make data-driven decisions.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
9. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
10. Professional certifications in aviation risk management, such as Certified Aviation Risk Manager (CARM), would be an advantage.
