Job Description: Sourcing Manager - Transportation and Logistics
Position Overview:
The Sourcing Manager for Transportation and Logistics plays a pivotal role in our organization's Supply Chain Management department. As a Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of transportation and logistics services. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to optimize our supply chain operations and drive value across our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for transportation and logistics services to meet organizational goals and objectives.
2. Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers to ensure the availability of reliable and cost-effective transportation solutions.
3. Negotiate and manage contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements with suppliers to achieve optimal cost savings and service quality.
4. Conduct regular market analysis and benchmarking to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and emerging transportation technologies.
5. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g., operations, finance, and quality assurance) to align sourcing activities with business requirements.
6. Monitor supplier performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering effective communication and resolving any issues or disputes that may arise.
8. Stay informed about regulatory requirements and industry standards related to transportation and logistics, ensuring compliance across the supply chain.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization within the transportation and logistics function.
10. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance overall supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in sourcing and procurement within the transportation and logistics industry.
3. Strong knowledge of transportation modes, including trucking, air freight, ocean freight, and rail, as well as associated regulations and compliance requirements.
4. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sourcing strategies that drive cost savings and operational efficiencies.
5. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of achieving favorable terms and conditions.
6. Proficiency in analyzing market trends and leveraging market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions.
7. Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
8. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
9. Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
10. Proficiency in using supply chain management software and tools, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
