Job Description: Supply Chain Specialist
Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of goods and services from suppliers to customers. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the supply chain process. The Supply Chain Specialist collaborates with various internal departments and external stakeholders to enhance supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize logistics operations and enhance overall performance.
2. Monitor and analyze supply chain processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
3. Coordinate and collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
4. Manage inventory levels to meet customer demands while minimizing carrying costs and stock-outs.
5. Oversee transportation activities, including freight management, route optimization, and carrier selection.
6. Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria, while maintaining strong relationships.
7. Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular audits, and address any issues to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement supply chain improvement initiatives, such as process enhancements, cost reduction strategies, and quality improvements.
9. Utilize supply chain management software and tools to streamline processes, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide accurate and timely reports.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and proactively implement changes to maintain a competitive advantage.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in supply chain management or a similar role, preferably within the transportation and logistics industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, practices, and procedures.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and root causes.
5. Proficient in using supply chain management software, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
8. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to supply chain management.
10. Continuous improvement mindset, with a commitment to enhancing supply chain processes and achieving operational excellence.
