Job Summary:
The Demand Forecasting Analyst is responsible for analyzing and forecasting demand patterns to optimize inventory levels, ensure product availability, and support efficient supply chain operations. The individual in this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop accurate demand forecasts and drive data-driven decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights to develop demand forecasts for assigned product categories.
2. Utilize statistical models and forecasting techniques to identify demand patterns, anomalies, and seasonality.
3. Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to gather relevant data and insights for demand forecasting.
4. Monitor and evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of demand forecasts, making necessary adjustments to optimize inventory levels.
5. Identify and communicate potential risks and opportunities related to demand forecasting, supporting proactive supply chain planning and mitigating potential shortages or excesses.
6. Generate regular reports and presentations to share demand forecasting insights, trends, and recommendations with stakeholders.
7. Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to develop and implement demand planning strategies, policies, and procedures.
8. Continuously improve demand forecasting methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
9. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in demand forecasting and supply chain management.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Statistics, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) as a Demand Forecasting Analyst or in a similar role within the transportation and logistics industry.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
4. Proficient in statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modeling using software such as Excel, R, or Python.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
6. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision in forecasting and reporting.
7. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
9. Knowledge of transportation and logistics operations, supply chain management principles, and industry best practices.
10. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and demand planning software is preferred.
