Job Description: Logistics Planner
Position Summary:
The Logistics Planner is responsible for managing and coordinating the movement of goods and materials within the company's supply chain network. This role requires meticulous planning, effective communication, and strong analytical skills to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of products to customers and distribution centers. The Logistics Planner collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including suppliers, carriers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to optimize logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute logistics plans to meet customer demands, considering factors such as transportation modes, routes, and delivery schedules.
2. Coordinate with internal teams to forecast inventory needs and ensure availability of products to meet customer requirements.
3. Collaborate with suppliers and carriers to arrange transportation, negotiate rates, and monitor the performance of logistics service providers.
4. Analyze logistics data, including transportation costs, delivery performance, and inventory levels, to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
5. Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery, proactively addressing any potential delays or issues.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory levels, shipment details, and delivery documentation.
7. Evaluate and select transportation providers based on their capabilities, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including carriers, suppliers, and internal teams, to ensure smooth logistics operations.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
10. Provide regular reports and analysis to management, highlighting key performance indicators and recommending strategies for improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in logistics planning, transportation management, or a similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles, including transportation modes, routing, and inventory management.
4. Proficient in using logistics management software and tools to plan and track shipments.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize data effectively.
6. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
7. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in logistics operations.
10. Familiarity with lean or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
