Job Summary:
The Real Estate Appraisal Reviewer is responsible for conducting thorough and accurate reviews of real estate appraisals to ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role plays a critical part in assisting with the decision-making process related to real estate transactions by providing expert analysis and recommendations. The Real Estate Appraisal Reviewer must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and extensive knowledge of real estate appraisal practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive reviews of real estate appraisals to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards, guidelines, and regulations.
2. Evaluate appraisal reports and supporting documentation, such as property records, sales data, market analysis, and comparable property information.
3. Identify any inconsistencies, errors, or discrepancies in the appraisal reports and communicate findings to the appraisers for correction and clarification.
4. Analyze appraisal methodologies, techniques, and approaches to assess their validity and adherence to industry best practices.
5. Verify the accuracy of property measurements, legal descriptions, and property characteristics against available records and public sources.
6. Assess the appropriateness and relevance of comparable properties used in the appraisal process and ensure they align with market conditions.
7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including loan officers, underwriters, and real estate agents, to gather additional information or clarify appraisal-related matters.
8. Stay updated with industry regulations, appraisal guidelines, and market trends to ensure compliance and provide accurate recommendations.
9. Participate in quality control initiatives and contribute to process improvements for the appraisal review function.
10. Maintain proper documentation of appraisal reviews, including findings, recommendations, and any required follow-up actions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, or a related field.
2. Appraisal-related certification, such as the Certified Residential or Certified General Appraiser designation.
