Job Description: Power Plant Operations IT Manager
Position Overview:
The Power Plant Operations IT Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the information technology operations within a power plant facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of technology systems, managing the IT infrastructure, and supporting the overall operational efficiency of the power plant. The Power Plant Operations IT Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures to support the power plant's operational needs.
2. Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of the power plant's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networking, and security systems.
3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
4. Manage and optimize the plant's automation systems, including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, ensuring their smooth operation and integration with other plant systems.
5. Monitor and maintain data integrity, cybersecurity, and confidentiality of sensitive information to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
6. Conduct regular audits and assessments of IT systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to enhance performance and reliability.
7. Lead and supervise a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their professional development and effective delivery of IT services.
8. Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure IT equipment, software licenses, and maintenance services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to procurement policies.
9. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in the power plant operations IT domain, recommending and implementing relevant advancements.
10. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and teamwork within the IT department and across the power plant organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience (X years) in managing IT operations, preferably within the energy and utilities sector or power plant operations.
3. Strong knowledge of power plant operations, including automation systems, SCADA, and control systems.
4. In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and data management principles.
5. Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting hardware and software systems commonly used in power plant operations, such as DCS (Distributed Control System) and EMS (Energy Management System).
6. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team of IT professionals.
7. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.
8. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors.
