Job Description: Power Plant Turbine Technician
Position Overview:
The Power Plant Turbine Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power plant turbines. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure the reliable production of electricity from the power plant's turbines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate, inspect, and maintain power plant turbines, including both gas and steam turbines, in compliance with safety and operational guidelines.
2. Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on turbine equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
3. Monitor operational parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, to identify potential issues and take necessary corrective actions.
4. Perform troubleshooting activities to diagnose and resolve turbine malfunctions, utilizing diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and technical expertise.
5. Collaborate with other power plant personnel to coordinate turbine maintenance activities, including planned outages and major overhauls.
6. Maintain accurate records of turbine operation, maintenance activities, and equipment condition to facilitate effective reporting and future maintenance planning.
7. Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
8. Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance procedures, work instructions, and best practices for turbine operations.
9. Stay updated with advancements in turbine technology and industry standards to continuously improve turbine operation and maintenance practices.
10. Support the training and development of junior technicians by providing guidance and sharing knowledge and experience.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
2. Technical degree or certification in power plant operations, turbine technology, or a related field is preferred.
3. Proven experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting power plant turbines, preferably in a large-scale power plant.
4. In-depth knowledge of turbine systems, including gas and steam turbines, and associated auxiliary equipment.
5. Strong understanding of turbine control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
6. Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
7. Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve turbine malfunctions.
8. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track and document maintenance activities.
9. Excellent understanding of occupational health and safety practices, with a focus on safe work procedures and hazard identification.
10. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members and report turbine operation and maintenance status.
