Job Description: Nuclear Regulatory Affairs Manager
The Nuclear Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements related to nuclear energy operations. This role requires an in-depth understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks, policies, and procedures, as well as the ability to effectively liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with all nuclear regulatory requirements at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
2. Monitor and interpret changes in nuclear energy regulations and communicate updates to relevant departments.
3. Coordinate and manage the preparation, submission, and maintenance of all required regulatory documentation, including license applications, reports, and permits.
4. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and participating in inspections and audits.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate regulatory compliance during the design, construction, and operation of nuclear energy facilities.
6. Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and identify areas for improvement.
7. Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on regulatory compliance obligations and best practices.
8. Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure that all activities and policies align with applicable laws and regulations.
9. Stay informed about emerging trends and advancements in nuclear energy regulations, and provide recommendations for the implementation of new practices or procedures.
10. Foster a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization by promoting a proactive approach to regulatory affairs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, environmental science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear regulatory affairs, compliance, or a related field.
3. Thorough knowledge of national and international nuclear energy regulatory frameworks, guidelines, and standards.
4. Strong understanding of nuclear power plant operations, safety systems, and associated regulatory requirements.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex regulatory concepts to various stakeholders.
6. Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities and key internal stakeholders.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to complex situations.
8. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in regulatory documentation and reporting.
9. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools, including regulatory compliance management systems.
