Job Summary:
The Utility Field Technician is responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks related to the inspection, maintenance, and repair of utility systems and equipment. This role requires strong technical knowledge and skills in utility management, with a primary focus on ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of utility systems. The Utility Field Technician works closely with the Utility Field Supervisor and other team members to complete assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular inspections of utility systems, including electrical, gas, water, and wastewater, to identify any potential issues or maintenance requirements.
2. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing faulty components, repairing leaks, and conducting system tests to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
3. Respond promptly to utility system failures or emergencies, troubleshoot problems, and carry out necessary repairs or adjustments to minimize downtime and restore service.
4. Install, connect, and disconnect utility systems and equipment as required, ensuring all installations are conducted in compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Monitor and record utility system parameters, such as pressure, flow rates, and voltage levels, to identify trends and potential issues, and take appropriate corrective actions.
6. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of utility systems.
7. Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately and maintain detailed records of equipment and system performance.
8. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, ensuring personal and team safety during the execution of tasks.
9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in utility management to enhance knowledge and skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in utility management is preferred.
2. Proven experience (X years) as a Utility Field Technician or similar role, preferably in the energy and utilities sector.
3. Strong knowledge of utility systems, including electrical, gas, water, and wastewater, and their associated equipment and components.
4. Proficient in conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing utility systems and equipment.
5. Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards governing utility management.
6. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
8. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and clients.
9. Proficiency in using various tools, equipment, and software applications related to utility management.
10. Physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces, as required.
