Job Summary:
The Water Utility Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of water utility operations. This role ensures the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable water services to customers while complying with regulatory requirements. The Water Utility Manager leads a team of professionals and works collaboratively with cross-functional departments to optimize efficiency, improve infrastructure, and enhance customer experience.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the water utility department, aligning with the organization's overall objectives.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the water utility, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and policies.
3. Manage the maintenance, repair, and replacement of water infrastructure, including pipelines, pumps, treatment plants, and reservoirs.
4. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to water quality, quantity, and distribution, taking corrective actions as necessary.
5. Develop and manage the water utility budget, including forecasting expenses, optimizing costs, and ensuring financial sustainability.
6. Lead and supervise a team of water utility professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to enhance team effectiveness.
7. Identify and implement technological advancements and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of water utility operations.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, finance, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and successful project execution.
9. Foster positive relationships with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, and community organizations to promote collaboration and compliance.
10. Stay updated on emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in the water utility industry, and proactively apply this knowledge to enhance operations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in water utility management, including demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
3. In-depth knowledge of water utility operations, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
4. Strong understanding of water treatment processes, water distribution systems, and infrastructure management.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
6. Proficient in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost optimization techniques.
7. Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and motivating teams.
