Job Description: HVAC Engineer
The HVAC Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in line with industry standards and best practices. The role requires a strong technical background in energy engineering and expertise in HVAC systems. The HVAC Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal functionality and energy efficiency in various energy and utilities projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, to meet project requirements and industry regulations.
2. Conduct detailed analysis and calculations to determine system specifications, load requirements, and equipment sizing for HVAC systems.
3. Generate accurate technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for HVAC system installations.
4. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into building designs and construction projects.
5. Evaluate and select appropriate HVAC equipment, components, and materials based on project specifications, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
6. Perform technical reviews and analysis of HVAC system designs, proposals, and operational plans to identify potential improvements or modifications.
7. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess HVAC system performance, identify issues, and recommend solutions for optimization.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations while adhering to project timelines and budgetary constraints.
9. Monitor and evaluate energy consumption data to identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements in HVAC systems.
10. Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop preventive maintenance plans and provide technical support for troubleshooting HVAC system failures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in designing and implementing HVAC systems, preferably in the energy and utilities sector.
3. In-depth knowledge of HVAC system design principles, load calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection.
4. Proficiency in using HVAC design software and relevant engineering tools.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess system performance and propose optimization strategies.
6. Excellent project management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
7. Familiarity with energy codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.), and regulatory requirements related to HVAC systems.
8. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and clients.
9. Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional accuracy in technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
10. Ability to adapt to new technologies, industry trends, and emerging practices in HVAC engineering.
