Job Summary:
The Energy Policy Adviser is responsible for providing strategic guidance and expertise in the development, implementation, and management of energy policies at all levels. This role plays a critical part in formulating energy-related strategies that contribute to the organization's objectives, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and environmental sustainability. The Energy Policy Adviser will collaborate with cross-functional teams, government agencies, and industry partners to ensure effective policy advocacy and promote the adoption of sustainable energy practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement energy policies and strategies that align with the organization's objectives and support sustainable energy practices.
2. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on energy-related regulations, legislation, and industry trends to identify potential policy implications.
3. Assess the impact of proposed energy policies on the organization's operations, financials, and environmental sustainability.
4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, engineering teams, and legal counsel, to obtain input and ensure policy alignment.
5. Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, and relevant stakeholders to influence policy development and promote the organization's interests.
6. Provide expert advice and recommendations on energy policy matters to senior management, highlighting potential risks, opportunities, and best practices.
7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented energy policies, identifying areas for improvement and proposing necessary revisions.
8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in energy technologies, emerging regulations, and market trends to anticipate future policy requirements.
9. Represent the organization at industry conferences, seminars, and public hearings, advocating for favorable energy policies.
10. Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and briefings on energy policy matters for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience (X years) in energy policy development and analysis, preferably in the energy/utilities sector.
3. Strong understanding of energy markets, regulations, and policy frameworks at local, national, and international levels.
4. Proficient in conducting research, data analysis, and policy impact assessments.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and relevant stakeholders.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the ability to think critically.
8. Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
9. Highly adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
10. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis and policy development.
