Job Summary:
The Energy Modeling Engineer will play a vital role in our organization's energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. This position requires a strong technical background in energy engineering and a deep understanding of energy modeling software. The Energy Modeling Engineer will be responsible for conducting energy analysis, developing energy models, and providing recommendations to optimize energy usage in buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct energy modeling studies and simulations to evaluate energy performance of buildings, systems, and processes.
2. Analyze energy consumption patterns, identify potential energy-saving opportunities, and propose energy efficiency solutions.
3. Develop accurate energy models using specialized software tools, considering factors such as building design, occupancy, climate data, and equipment specifications.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and facility managers, to integrate energy modeling into design and retrofit projects.
5. Provide technical expertise and support in optimizing building systems, HVAC, lighting, and control strategies to achieve energy efficiency goals.
6. Perform energy audits, identify energy conservation measures, and quantify potential energy savings.
7. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations detailing energy modeling findings, recommendations, and cost-benefit analyses.
8. Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in energy modeling software and tools, and incorporate best practices into modeling processes.
9. Assist in the development and implementation of energy efficiency programs and initiatives.
10. Collaborate with utility companies and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with energy standards and codes.
11. Support energy-related research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy modeling, energy analysis, or a similar role.
3. Strong proficiency in energy modeling software such as EnergyPlus, eQuest, or equivalent.
4. In-depth knowledge of building systems, energy conservation measures, and sustainable design principles.
5. Familiarity with relevant building codes, energy standards (ASHRAE, IECC, etc.), and industry best practices.
6. Proficient in data analysis and the ability to interpret complex technical information.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify energy-saving opportunities.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
10. Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and precision.
11. Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach to energy modeling practices.
12. Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Energy Simulation Professional (BCxP) preferred.
