Job Description: Theater Manager
The Theater Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of theater operations and ensuring the smooth running of performances and events within an entertainment and performing arts organization. This role requires exceptional organizational and leadership skills, as well as a strong understanding of theater arts and production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the theater, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
2. Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all theater productions, performances, and events.
3. Collaborate with artistic directors, production teams, and staff to ensure the successful realization of artistic visions.
4. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise theater staff, including box office personnel, ushers, technicians, and maintenance workers.
5. Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment for all theater employees and patrons.
6. Coordinate and negotiate contracts with artists, performers, vendors, and suppliers.
7. Manage ticketing systems, box office operations, and customer service to ensure seamless ticket sales, reservation management, and patron satisfaction.
8. Oversee marketing and promotional activities to maximize theater attendance and revenue generation.
9. Maintain accurate financial records, monitor budgets, and prepare financial reports for senior management.
10. Collaborate with external organizations, community partners, and sponsors to enhance theater visibility and foster positive relationships.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Theater Arts, Performing Arts, Arts Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working in theater management or performing arts administration.
3. In-depth knowledge of theater operations, technical production, and stage management.
4. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and manage a diverse team of staff and artists.
5. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple productions and events simultaneously.
6. Proficient in budget management, financial analysis, and reporting.
7. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Sound decision-making and problem-solving capabilities in high-pressure situations.
9. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate theater schedules.
10. Familiarity with ticketing systems, audience development strategies, and marketing techniques.
