Job Description: Recreation and Parks Director
Position Overview:
The Recreation and Parks Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sports and athletics programs within the Physical Education department. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced individual who can provide leadership, strategic planning, and efficient management to ensure the successful operation of recreational and park activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive sports and athletics program within the Physical Education department.
2. Plan, organize, and coordinate recreational activities, leagues, tournaments, and events.
3. Manage facility operations, including scheduling, maintenance, and safety protocols.
4. Recruit, train, and supervise a team of coaches, instructors, and staff members.
5. Evaluate and monitor program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to optimize participant engagement and satisfaction.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising opportunities.
7. Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for the recreation and parks department.
8. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards.
9. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to program enrollment, participant eligibility, and risk management.
10. Stay updated with current trends, best practices, and industry developments in sports and athletics programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the sports and athletics field.
3. Strong knowledge and understanding of physical education principles, recreation programming, and park management.
4. Proven ability to develop and implement successful sports and athletics programs.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
7. Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
