Job Description: Summer Camp Athletic Trainer
The Summer Camp Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing exceptional athletic training services and support to participants at a sports and athletics summer camp. This role requires a highly skilled and qualified professional who can ensure the safety and well-being of campers engaged in various sports activities. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with camp staff, coaches, and participants to prevent, assess, and treat injuries during the camp duration.
Responsibilities:
1. Implement injury prevention programs and protocols to minimize the risk of sports-related injuries.
2. Evaluate and assess campers' physical conditions and medical histories prior to participating in sports activities.
3. Provide immediate medical attention and first aid to injured participants, following appropriate protocols.
4. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for campers with injuries, ensuring their safe and timely return to sports activities.
5. Collaborate with camp coaches and staff to promote proper techniques, warm-up exercises, and conditioning programs.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each camper, including injury reports, treatment plans, and progress notes.
7. Educate campers on injury prevention, nutrition, hydration, and other relevant topics to enhance their overall well-being.
8. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding injury assessments, treatment plans, and any necessary follow-up care.
9. Coordinate with external medical professionals and emergency response teams, if required.
10. Stay informed about the latest developments in sports medicine, athletic training techniques, and relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
2. Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
3. Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
4. Proven experience in providing athletic training services in a sports or camp setting.
5. Proficient knowledge of injury prevention, assessment, and treatment techniques.
6. Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with campers, parents/guardians, and camp staff.
8. Ability to work independently, make quick decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
9. Up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols.
10. Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the camp schedule.
