Job Summary:
The Recreational Sports Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing athletic training services for participants engaged in recreational sports activities. They will work directly with individuals and teams, ensuring the prevention, assessment, and treatment of injuries during recreational sports events and practices. The Athletic Trainer will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, coaches, and administrators to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide on-site athletic training services during recreational sports events, practices, and competitions to ensure the well-being and safety of participants.
2. Conduct initial assessments of injuries and determine appropriate treatment plans, including immediate care and referral to medical professionals when required.
3. Administer first aid and emergency care as needed, following established protocols and guidelines.
4. Develop and implement injury prevention programs by conducting pre-participation screenings, educating participants on proper warm-up techniques, and promoting safe sports practices.
5. Design and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured participants, including therapeutic exercises, modalities, and functional training.
6. Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and progress of participants, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
7. Collaborate with coaches, administrators, and medical professionals to develop and enforce safety guidelines and protocols for recreational sports activities.
8. Assist in the selection, fitting, and maintenance of sports equipment, including protective gear, to ensure proper usage and minimize injury risks.
9. Educate participants on injury prevention, nutrition, hydration, and other relevant healthcare topics to promote overall well-being.
10. Stay updated with current trends, research, and advancements in athletic training, sports medicine, and related fields.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited institution.
2. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification from the Board of Certification (BOC).
3. Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
4. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and sports injury management.
5. Proficient in assessing and diagnosing sports-related injuries and implementing appropriate treatment plans.
6. Ability to provide immediate care and emergency treatment in high-stress situations.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with participants, coaches, and healthcare professionals.
8. Experience in designing and implementing injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.
9. Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, exercise equipment, and rehabilitation techniques.
10. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards related to athletic training and healthcare documentation.
