Job Description: Aquatic Athletic Trainer
Position Overview:
The Aquatic Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing high-quality athletic training services in an aquatic setting. They will work closely with athletes, coaches, and other medical professionals to prevent, assess, and treat injuries related to aquatic sports and activities. The Aquatic Athletic Trainer will also design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs, monitor progress, and ensure a safe environment for athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments of athletes to identify musculoskeletal imbalances, weaknesses, and areas of potential injury in an aquatic environment.
2. Develop and implement comprehensive injury prevention strategies and training programs tailored to individual athletes' needs.
3. Administer emergency care, including CPR and first aid, as required in the event of injuries or accidents in the pool or aquatic facility.
4. Collaborate with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate the care and rehabilitation of athletes.
5. Provide immediate on-site injury evaluation, management, and treatment during practices, competitions, and events.
6. Utilize therapeutic modalities, exercise techniques, and manual therapy to assist athletes in their recovery and return to play.
7. Educate athletes, coaches, and staff on proper warm-up, stretching, conditioning, and injury prevention techniques specific to aquatic sports.
8. Maintain accurate medical records, injury reports, and progress notes on all athletes treated.
9. Stay up-to-date with current research, trends, and best practices in aquatic athletic training to improve overall performance and injury management.
10. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations within the aquatic facility.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field from an accredited institution.
2. Certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC).
3. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification.
4. Minimum of [X] years of experience as an Athletic Trainer in an aquatic setting.
5. Excellent knowledge of aquatic sports, including swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming, and diving.
6. Proficiency in assessing and managing acute and chronic aquatic sports-related injuries.

11. Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
12. Commitment to continuing education and staying abreast of industry advancements.
