Job Description: Sports Operations Manager
Position Overview:
The Sports Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a sports organization or facility. This individual is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of various sports programs, events, and activities while maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement operational plans: Create, update, and execute comprehensive operational plans to ensure smooth functioning of sports programs, events, and facility operations.
2. Coordinate sports programs and events: Manage the scheduling, logistics, and execution of sports programs, tournaments, leagues, and other events, ensuring they are delivered successfully and meet quality standards.
3. Facility management: Oversee all aspects of facility management, including maintenance, cleanliness, safety protocols, and equipment inventory, to ensure a safe and optimal working environment.
4. Team management: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of staff members and volunteers to support various operational activities, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
5. Budgeting and financial management: Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources while maintaining financial stability.
6. Vendor and supplier management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services in adherence to quality standards and budgetary constraints.
7. Customer service: Provide exceptional customer service to athletes, coaches, participants, and visitors, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
8. Compliance and risk management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including health and safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
9. Data analysis and reporting: Collect, analyze, and report operational data, performance metrics, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and support strategic decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in sports management, facility operations, or a similar role.
3. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
4. Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with experience in supervising and motivating staff members.
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with athletes, coaches, staff, and external stakeholders.
6. Proficient in using technology and software applications relevant to sports management and facility operations.
