Job Summary:
The Sports Merchandising Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of merchandising strategies within the sports and athletics industry. This role requires a strong understanding of sports merchandise, market trends, and consumer behavior to optimize sales and enhance brand visibility. The Sports Merchandising Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective merchandising campaigns, maintain inventory levels, and maximize revenue generation opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute effective sports merchandise strategies to drive sales, increase brand exposure, and meet revenue targets.
2. Collaborate with product development teams to identify and prioritize merchandise assortments based on market demand and consumer preferences.
3. Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to identify new merchandising opportunities and stay ahead of market changes.
4. Plan and coordinate the production, distribution, and availability of sports merchandise ensuring sufficient stock levels to meet customer demands.
5. Analyze sales data, market research, and customer feedback to make informed decisions regarding merchandise assortment, pricing, and promotional activities.
6. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to negotiate favorable terms, optimize inventory management, and ensure timely delivery of products.
7. Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies to enhance the presentation and appeal of sports merchandise in retail environments.
8. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional campaigns, advertising materials, and online merchandising strategies to drive brand awareness and increase customer engagement.
9. Monitor and analyze sales performance, inventory turnover, and profitability to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
10. Train and provide guidance to sales staff on product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and customer service to ensure consistent brand representation and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in sports merchandising, retail management, or related roles.
3. In-depth knowledge of sports merchandise trends, market dynamics, and consumer behavior.
4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market research, and customer insights.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with merchandising software.
