Job Overview:
The Air Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the efficient and safe movement of air traffic within designated airspaces. The supervisor ensures compliance with air traffic control regulations, procedures, and policies to maintain a secure and orderly flow of aircraft. They are responsible for leading a team of air traffic controllers and coordinating with other aviation personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and manage a team of air traffic controllers, providing guidance, direction, and support in day-to-day operations.
2. Monitor and maintain awareness of air traffic activity to ensure adherence to established regulations and protocols.
3. Coordinate with other air traffic control facilities, pilots, and aviation personnel to ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic.
4. Maintain effective communication with air traffic control personnel, providing clear instructions, guidance, and feedback.
5. Monitor weather conditions and other factors that may impact air traffic, making necessary adjustments to ensure safety and efficiency.
6. Conduct regular performance evaluations of air traffic controllers, providing feedback, coaching, and training as required.
7. Serve as a point of contact for escalated issues and resolve conflicts or operational challenges promptly and effectively.
8. Collaborate with the Air Traffic Control Manager and other supervisors to develop and implement operational strategies and procedures.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to air traffic control.
10. Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, safety standards, and protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Air Traffic Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a certified air traffic controller.
3. Prior experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within air traffic control.
4. Excellent knowledge of air traffic control regulations, procedures, and protocols.
5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams.
6. Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle high-pressure situations calmly and efficiently.
7. Proficient in using air traffic control equipment and software systems.
8. Ability to analyze complex information and make quick, accurate judgments.
9. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
10. Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
11. Valid Air Traffic Control license and certification from the relevant aviation authorities.
