Job Summary:
The Youth Services Worker will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and essential services to youth in need within the community. This role focuses on fostering positive development, ensuring the well-being of youth, and addressing social issues that may affect their lives. The Youth Services Worker will collaborate with other professionals, community organizations, and families to develop and implement effective intervention strategies and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments and screenings to identify the needs and challenges faced by youth.
2. Develop and implement individualized service plans, utilizing appropriate interventions and techniques to address identified needs.
3. Offer counseling, support, and guidance to youth to improve their emotional well-being, social skills, and self-esteem.
4. Facilitate group sessions and workshops to enhance life skills, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities among youth.
5. Collaborate with families, schools, and other community organizations to coordinate services and support for youth.
6. Provide crisis intervention and emergency assistance to youth facing immediate threats or challenges.
7. Advocate for youth rights and ensure access to necessary resources and services.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, records, and documentation in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
9. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement prevention programs and community outreach initiatives.
10. Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, policies, and best practices in the field of youth services to ensure compliance and provide informed advice to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with youth in a social service capacity.
3. Solid understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and the impact of socio-economic factors on youth well-being.
4. Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and use assessment tools effectively.
5. Strong knowledge of local community resources and services for youth.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with youth, families, and stakeholders.
7. Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
8. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage caseload effectively.
9. Proficient in using computer applications and software for documentation and case management purposes.
10. Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
