Job Description: Grant Writer (Social Work and Human Services - Nonprofit Management)
Position Overview:
The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in securing funding for our organization's social work and human services programs through successful grant proposal writing. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting thorough research, developing compelling grant proposals, and maintaining effective relationships with funding organizations. The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with program managers and other stakeholders to gather essential information needed for the grant proposals. The role requires exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other sources, aligned with the organization's social work and human services programs.
- Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to gather relevant information, data, and outcomes required for effective grant proposal writing.
- Develop and write high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, goals, and program objectives.
- Create persuasive narratives, highlighting the organization's impact, program outcomes, and potential impact on the community.
- Compose clear and concise responses to proposal application questions, addressing all requirements within the specified guidelines.
- Review and edit draft proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with grant guidelines.
- Coordinate with finance and program teams to gather budgetary information and create detailed budgets for grant proposals.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in nonprofit grant writing, ensuring the organization's proposals remain competitive.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities and track all proposal submissions, outcomes, and reporting deadlines.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with funding organizations, attending meetings and networking events as necessary.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure compliance with reporting requirements for funded grants.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, financial reports, and other documentation required by funding organizations.
- Maintain the utmost confidentiality of all sensitive information related to grant applications and funding sources.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, social work, human services, or a related field.
- Proven experience in grant writing, preferably within the social work and human services sector.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit management principles and grant application processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
- Exceptional research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities and gather supporting data.
