Job Summary:
The Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive counseling, guidance, and support to individuals with physical, mental, developmental, or emotional disabilities to assist them in achieving their maximum level of independence and functioning within their personal, social, educational, and vocational environments. The role requires a deep understanding of the rehabilitation process and the ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' needs, abilities, and goals for rehabilitation.
2. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client assessments, including short-term and long-term goals.
3. Provide counseling and support to individuals with disabilities and their families, addressing emotional, psychological, social, and vocational concerns.
4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and integrate rehabilitation services.
5. Assist clients in accessing necessary resources and support systems, both within the organization and in the community.
6. Monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
7. Provide education and training to clients, families, and caregivers on disability-related issues, coping strategies, and community resources.
8. Document client interactions, progress, and treatment plans accurately and in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
9. Stay updated on current research, best practices, and advancements in the field of rehabilitation counseling.
10. Participate in professional development activities and attend relevant conferences or workshops.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Valid state licensure or certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor.
3. Proven experience in providing counseling or support services to individuals with disabilities.
4. In-depth knowledge of disability-related laws, regulations, and resources.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with clients and effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
6. Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to evaluate client needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
7. Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively.
8. Empathy, compassion, and sensitivity when working with individuals facing physical, mental, or emotional challenges.
9. Proficient in using computer applications and electronic health records.
10. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
