Job Summary:
The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide professional counseling services and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. The primary objective of this role is to help clients overcome addiction, develop coping mechanisms, and achieve long-term recovery. The Substance Abuse Counselor must possess exceptional communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills to effectively assess clients' needs, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing support.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' substance abuse history, mental health status, and treatment needs.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, considering clients' strengths, needs, and preferences.
3. Administer evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients, such as individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and psychoeducation.
4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and integrated treatment strategies for clients.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
6. Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
7. Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute substance abuse-related issues.
8. Educate clients and their families about the nature of addiction, relapse prevention strategies, and available community resources.
9. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and developments in the field of substance abuse counseling.
10. Comply with ethical standards and legal regulations governing substance abuse counseling, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
2. Valid state licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (LADC, CADC, LCDC, or equivalent).
3. Minimum of [X] years of experience in providing substance abuse counseling or related services.
4. In-depth knowledge of substance abuse disorders, dual diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment approaches.

10. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on current industry trends and research.
