Summary:
The Sustainable Farming Educator will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering educational programs focused on sustainable farming practices within the field of Agriculture and Environmental Science. This role aims to promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural techniques and increase awareness of environmental stewardship among farmers and agricultural professionals. The Sustainable Farming Educator will collaborate with various stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, and community organizations, to ensure the successful implementation of educational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop comprehensive educational programs on sustainable farming practices, tailored to various target audiences, including farmers, agricultural professionals, and community groups.
2. Design and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars to educate stakeholders about sustainable agriculture, covering topics such as soil health, water conservation, integrated pest management, agroforestry, and organic farming methods.
3. Create and update educational materials, including presentations, handouts, and online resources, to support the delivery of sustainable farming education.
4. Collaborate with local farmers, agricultural institutions, and environmental organizations to assess training needs and identify areas for improvement in sustainable farming practices.
5. Conduct on-farm visits and demonstrations to showcase sustainable agriculture techniques and provide practical guidance to farmers.
6. Stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in sustainable farming and environmental science to ensure the delivery of accurate and relevant information.
7. Assist in organizing and participating in agricultural fairs, conferences, and community events to promote sustainable farming practices.
8. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through feedback collection, surveys, and assessments, and make necessary adjustments to enhance their impact.
9. Maintain records of training activities, participant attendance, and program evaluation results.
10. Collaborate with the HR team to recruit and train additional sustainable farming educators, as required.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in sustainable farming practices, preferably in an educational or extension role.
3. In-depth knowledge of sustainable agriculture techniques, including organic farming, agroforestry, soil conservation, water management, and integrated pest management.
4. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively deliver educational content to diverse audiences.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with farmers, agricultural professionals, researchers, and community organizations.
6. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging and interactive educational programs, workshops, and training sessions.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
8. Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes, including Microsoft Office Suite and online platforms for content creation and delivery.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
