Job Description: Environmental Technician
Position Overview:
The Environmental Technician will be responsible for assisting in the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental data related to agricultural and environmental science projects. The role requires a strong understanding of environmental monitoring techniques, data management, and compliance with applicable regulations. The Environmental Technician will collaborate with a team of scientists, engineers, and other professionals to support the organization's environmental sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct field sampling and monitoring activities to assess environmental conditions, including air, water, soil, and biodiversity.
2. Collect and record accurate data using various instruments, equipment, and protocols.
3. Perform laboratory analysis on collected samples following established procedures and quality control guidelines.
4. Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, technical documents, and presentations summarizing environmental findings and recommendations.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations, permits, and industry standards.
6. Support the implementation of environmental management plans, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation programs.
7. Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements.
8. Conduct environmental risk assessments and propose mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
9. Stay updated on emerging environmental science research, technologies, and best practices to enhance the organization's environmental performance.
10. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork and laboratory activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in environmental monitoring, data collection, and laboratory analysis techniques.
3. Strong understanding of environmental regulations, policies, and standards.
4. Proficient in using scientific equipment, instruments, and software for data collection and analysis.
5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately record and manage data.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret environmental data and identify trends or anomalies.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills to prepare technical reports and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
8. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
9. Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information System) software and its applications in environmental analysis is desirable.
10. Physical capability to perform fieldwork in various environmental conditions, which may include exposure to outdoor elements and moderate physical exertion.
