Job Summary:
The Greenhouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of greenhouse operations, ensuring the efficient and successful cultivation of plants within a controlled environment. This role requires extensive knowledge of agriculture, environmental science, and greenhouse management techniques. The Greenhouse Manager will be responsible for implementing and managing greenhouse operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, coordinate, and oversee all greenhouse activities, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
2. Develop and implement greenhouse management strategies to optimize plant growth, maximize yield, and ensure consistent crop quality.
3. Monitor and maintain environmental conditions within the greenhouse, including temperature, humidity, lighting, and ventilation.
4. Manage greenhouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
5. Collaborate with the Director of Agriculture to develop and implement crop production plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
6. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any potential plant diseases, pests, or nutrient deficiencies.
7. Oversee the selection and procurement of greenhouse supplies, equipment, and materials.
8. Maintain accurate records of greenhouse operations, crop yields, and expenses.
9. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
10. Stay updated with new developments and innovations in greenhouse technology and techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in greenhouse management, preferably in the agricultural industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of plant biology, horticulture, and greenhouse techniques.
4. Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively supervise a diverse team.
5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
