Job Summary:
The Wireless Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining wireless network systems within our organization. They will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and integrity of wireless networks, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any network-related issues. The Wireless Network Engineer will work closely with the IT team to develop and implement strategies to improve network performance.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing wireless network systems, including access points, controllers, and network protocols.
- Configuring and optimizing wireless network devices, ensuring seamless connectivity and maximum performance.
- Conducting network site surveys to determine optimal access point placement and coverage.
- Troubleshooting and resolving wireless network issues, including connectivity, signal strength, and interference problems.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and support network security measures, ensuring data protection and network integrity.
- Monitoring network performance and analyzing network traffic to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Developing and documenting network procedures and guidelines to ensure standardization and consistency.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of network infrastructure projects.
- Staying updated with industry trends and best practices in wireless networking, and making recommendations for network enhancements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience working as a Wireless Network Engineer or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of wireless network technologies, protocols, and standards (e.g., Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.11x, WPA, WPA2).
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting wireless network equipment, including access points, controllers, and wireless LAN controllers (WLC).
- Strong understanding of network security concepts, including authentication protocols, encryption, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools, such as Wireshark, to diagnose and resolve network-related issues.
- Familiarity with network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
- Ability to conduct network site surveys and analyze survey results to optimize wireless network performance.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex network issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
