Job Summary:
The Data Center Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the data center network infrastructure. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimum performance, reliability, and security of the organization's data center network. The successful candidate possesses a deep understanding of network technologies, protocols, and best practices, along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement data center network solutions that meet the organization's technical requirements, ensuring scalability, availability, and performance.
2. Configure, monitor, and maintain data center network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network appliances.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather network requirements and develop network designs based on business needs.
4. Perform network capacity planning and ensure the network infrastructure can effectively support current and future requirements.
5. Monitor and analyze network performance, identifying and resolving network-related issues or bottlenecks.
6. Troubleshoot complex network problems, working closely with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues within defined service level agreements (SLAs).
7. Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network access controls.
8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data center networking.
9. Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
10. Collaborate with the network operations team to ensure proper implementation and adherence to change management processes.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Minimum of X years of experience as a Data Center Network Engineer or a similar role.
3. In-depth knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.
4. Strong experience in configuring and troubleshooting networking devices, such as Cisco routers and switches.
5. Proficient in network security concepts, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
6. Solid understanding of network hardware, such as Cisco Nexus switches and ASA firewalls.
7. Experience with load balancers, such as F5 BIG-IP or Citrix NetScaler.
8. Familiarity with network monitoring and performance management tools.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex network issues and provide effective resolutions.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
11. Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP), are preferred.
