Job Summary:
The Network Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software within the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting network connectivity issues, managing network equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of the network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues, including but not limited to network connectivity, firewall configuration, and VPN connectivity.
2. Install, configure, and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
3. Collaborate with the Network Engineering team to design and implement network infrastructure improvements and upgrades.
4. Monitor network performance and security, implementing necessary measures to optimize network performance and ensure data integrity.
5. Conduct regular network assessments to identify and resolve potential vulnerabilities or weaknesses.
6. Assist in the development and maintenance of network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
7. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of network equipment, software, and licenses.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network-dependent applications and systems.
9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in network engineering and support.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Proven work experience as a Network Support Specialist or in a similar role.
3. In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewalls.
4. Proficiency in network administration and diagnostic tools.
5. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
6. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques.
7. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
