Job Summary:
The Cisco Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the organization's Cisco network infrastructure. This includes planning, configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls, to ensure seamless connectivity and efficient network performance. The Cisco Network Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, security, and infrastructure, to deliver scalable and secure network solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and maintain Cisco network infrastructure to meet business requirements.
2. Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and related network devices.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand network requirements and propose suitable solutions.
4. Ensure network security by implementing appropriate access controls, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems.
5. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform necessary optimizations.
6. Conduct regular network assessments and propose improvements based on industry best practices.
7. Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT staff regarding network connectivity and related issues.
8. Participate in network capacity planning and recommend necessary upgrades or expansions.
9. Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends related to Cisco networking.
10. Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures in a clear and concise manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is mandatory.
3. Proven experience working as a Cisco Network Engineer or in a similar role.
4. Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching protocols, such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and STP.
5. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and related network equipment.
6. In-depth understanding of network security principles, including access controls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
7. Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark and SolarWinds.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex network issues.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
10. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
11. High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work within established timelines.
